Cytomel (Liothyronine Sodium)

Notice: The information below is intended to supplement the information provided by medically trained and certified professionals.

Legitimate Medical Use

Cytomel is mainly used to treat individuals with an underactive thyroid, otherwise known as hypothyroidism. Sometimes the thyroid stops producing enough hormones so this man-made hormone is given to make up the difference. Thyroid cancer is also sometimes treated with this drug.

Side Effects

Those individuals taking any type of diet pills should never use Cytomel because of the life-threatening effects this combination can have.

Although not a steroid, those abusing the drug may experience hair loss and nausea. In addition, it can cause thyroid problems resulting in a lifetime of treatment.

Warning signs requiring medical attention

Sometimes individuals experience symptoms of having too much thyroid hormone. Warning signs include headaches, irritability, trouble sleeping, nervousness, increased sweating, heat intolerance, diarrhea, and menstrual changes.

Identifying the Steroid

Found in both pill and injectable forms.
